Fresher Water, Softer Skin: My HYYGIA Shower Filter Review

I bought this myself. No brand sent it or paid me. This post contains affiliate links. Full disclosure

This one isn’t skincare. But it ended up helping my skin anyway.

My shower booth had a problem. No matter how much I cleaned it, water stains and mildew came back. Every. Single. Day.

So I started looking into shower filters. It was Amazon Prime Day, and I found the HYYGIA Vitamin C Shower Filter. I paid about $26 for one. The price was good, the reviews were good, so I got it.

I’ve been using it for about two weeks now.

Quick note: I bought this with my own money. No brand sent it to me, and nobody asked me to write about it. I’m sharing it simply because I love it that much.

Quick verdict: Honestly, this is one of my best buys of 2026. I’d buy it again without thinking. 10/10.

Installing It Took Seconds

It goes between the shower head and the hose. You just screw it in.

It works with pretty much any shower head, so you don’t need to buy a new one. No tools, no plumber.

And the water pressure didn’t get weaker at all. I was a little worried about that, so I was happy.

Scented or Unscented

Mine is the Clean Cotton scent. Funny thing, though. To me, it smells more like coconut than cotton. Either way, it’s nice and it makes my shower feel a little more fun.

You know I skip fragrance on my face. But in the shower? I actually like it. If you don’t want any scent, there’s an unscented version too.

The Gauge Tells You When to Replace It

This is my favorite little detail. There’s a gauge on the side, so you can see how much is left.

The gauge on my filter

It goes from Ready to Shower, to Half Left, to Reorder Time, and then Running on Empty. So you know exactly when to buy the next one.

The label also says that if your skin and hair start feeling drier than usual after a shower, check the gauge. It’s probably running low. I love that. No guessing.

What Changed for Me

My shower booth (the part I can actually see)

I am going to be honest here. With a filter, you usually can’t tell if it’s doing anything. You just have to trust it.

But my shower booth told me. Before, I got water stains and mildew every day, even right after cleaning. Now? Almost none.

That’s when I believed it was working.

My dry skin and hair

My body is dry. And with the AC or the heater on at work all day, my skin really feels it.

After just 2 or 3 days with the filter, I thought, “Oh, I feel less dry.” It’s not a huge, dramatic change. But I can definitely feel more moisture in my skin after a shower. My hair feels softer as well.

And just knowing I’m washing with cleaner water? That’s the biggest plus for me.

My husband’s back

My husband has the opposite skin. He’s oily all over, and he had little bumps on his back, kind of like a rash.

After about a week with the filter, I noticed the bumps had gone down. He didn’t think much of the filter, honestly. Typical husband. (Yes, this is the same husband from my retinol and Reedle Shot stories. This time, something went right for him.)

This is just what we noticed at our house. Everyone’s water and skin are different.

Any Downsides?

Honestly, not so far. I’ve only used it for two weeks, so I’ll update this post if anything changes.

Who I’d Recommend It To

  • People with dry skin
  • Anyone fighting water stains or mildew in the shower
  • Anyone who just wants a shower that feels a little nicer

It would also make a nice gift under $30. Most people don’t think to buy a shower filter for themselves.

Final Thoughts

I bought it for my shower booth. I got less dry skin, softer hair, and a calmer back for my husband too. (Even if he didn’t notice.)

Will I buy it again? Absolutely. 10/10.

Shower Filter FAQ

Does the HYYGIA shower filter fit any shower head?

It fit mine with no trouble. It screws in between the shower head and the hose, so you can keep the shower head you already have.

Does a shower filter lower water pressure?

Mine didn’t. The water pressure felt the same as before.

Does a shower filter help dry skin?

For me, I felt a difference in 2 to 3 days. Not dramatic, but my skin felt more hydrated after showers and my hair was less frizzy. It’s not a replacement for moisturizer, but it helped.

How do I know when to replace the HYYGIA filter?

There’s a gauge on the side that goes from Ready to Shower to Running on Empty. Reorder when it hits Reorder Time, or when your skin and hair start feeling drier after showers.

Does a vitamin C shower filter change the water color?

Not mine. The water looks exactly the same as before. Only the scent is different.
